The Gathering, hosted by Northern Shout is taking place at Alexanders on Sunday 1st May.
Now in its 9th year, The Gathering offers the best of local music, as well as a range of cultural activities. The bank holiday festival looks set to be another popular event for the revitalised Alexanders.
Manager Jamie Northrop:
“We have the usual set up, stage outside in the beer garden with all local bands, we have an artist section so kids can come along and get involved. I’ve got some umbrellas in case the weather isn’t kind to us.!”
There will be a festival bar and barbecue, as well as activities for all the family ranging from poets, storytellers and arts and craft stalls. Some top local acts will be performing on the day including Macca, Broken Three Ways, Jonathan Coley, Green Room
The Stops, The Instinctive, Dead Pixels, Kindest of Thieves and Oli Gosling.
.In the evening there will be a pop up nightclub in the courtyard, and DJs from community radio station Flipside will be in attendance.
Jamie is enthusiastic about the gathering , and the summer ahead. Having taken over late last year he says that things are ” going really well. We’re looking forward to the weather getting a bit nicer for us, so we can get the courtyard full. We have a good mix of acts booked for the summer, from Goodfellas to Lime house lizzie. ” Alexanders are also hosting their a music festival at the end of May featuring unsigned local bands.
The Gathering takes place at Alexanders from 12pm Sunday
