Grosvenor Park will be hosting a “Picnic for Peace ” this Sunday 21st August
The organisers say that Chester’s diverse community will be coming together to celebrate what unites us, rather than divides us, with sharing food, music and (hopefully) the Great British Summer.
“The idea is simple, aiming to promote peace and harmony and to celebrate our diversity and multiculturalism. At the same time it takes a stance against the negative narrative of late and affirms our commitment to our fellow Cestrians, regardless of where they were born”
The event is open to all and will take place in the Activity Hut in the park from 12 til 3. The Chester picnic is inspired by the first ever Picnic for Peace which took place earlier this year in Lewisham, London. Similar events are now taking place across the UK . The original Peace Picnic was set up in direct response to negativity experienced in post Brexit UK. The organisers say that “Diversity and Multiculturalism shouldn’t be something that divides us, we should be celebrating it within our wonderful communities.” The family picnic , will guests bringing their own food and drink will also include free heritage performances at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm and craft activities for children
