An exciting new musical film project , marking the Jubilee, which will connect the generations and communities of Cheshire West, based on stories, memories and dreams, and performed by hundreds, is the exciting and ambitious vision from Matt Baker’s Theatre in the Quarter.
“This will be something unique for Chester and surrounding areas in bringing communities and generations together through a brand new Chester made film with new anthems.
As we celebrate 70 years of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II reign, Theatre in the Quarter will commission and produce a brand new and exciting multi-generational project for and with the people of Cheshire West. The project will connect our young people with the generation who remember The Queen’s accession to the throne; a project filled with sharing of thoughts and ideas, memories and dreams, which will culminate in a ground-breaking short film with new songs. ” Theatre in the Quarter’s recent hit projects includes Over by Christmas(2014), Chester City Passion (2016) , For the Fallen (2016) , The Lost Boy (2017) and Christmas street (2020).
A crowd funder has been set up aiming to raise £26,000 to pay for a creative team including director, composer, choreographer and design, film and sound company including editing, project management, safeguarding, marketing and covid safety. If successful the film will be premiered as a key element of the borough’s Platinum Jubilee Celebration Weekend in June 2022. There will also be a community chorus as part of the the film, as well as a chorus of children drawn from schools in Cheshire West.
