Chester Karate club teams up to support Community Hub

A Japanese Shotokan Karate Club in Hoole has teamed up with local Chester Company Mere Plantations, ‘To Punch Through Hunger’ to donate food to Crossroads Community Hub.

Members of JKS Hoole Karate Club have been collecting food and donated clothes to support the local community in and around Hoole, so that they can extend that Karate and Christmas Spirit.  

Sensei Paul McAvoy Chief Instructor at JKS Karate Club in Hoole said ‘ Karate goes beyond the dojo, what we learn regards improvements in our Karate, we try to match in our lives, by improvements in our character, we have members from across Chester, therefore its only fitting we do something locally to support our community’.

Miles Hogg from Mere Plantations added ‘We were happy to team up with JKS Karate Club in Hoole to donate food to support communities in Chester and support a great initiative’.

JKS, Hoole is a traditional Shotokan karate club associated with JKS England and JKS in Japan, they meet every Monday for beginners aged from 7 to 70+ at Hoole Martial Arts Fitness and Karate School, on Housesteads Drive, Chester,  they can be contacted by email at jkschester@mail.com or by diving right in on Monday class.

Martin Ankers from Crossroads Community Hub said, ‘thank you so much for the work of the club in collecting the food and clothes. Crossroads Community Hub will be delighted in what the club has done to support its users’. The Karate Club are already planning their next activity by taking part in Keep Britain tidy clean up in the spring.
