A new inclusive dance, fitness and wellbeing space Poise Dance Studio has opened at 25 Christleton Rd in Boughton.

Poise offers Pilates, Yoga, adult dance lessons (tap, ballet, commercial) ” We have got a little bit of something for everyone”. says owner Alicia who has recruited a team of 4 instructors from around Chester. Alicia is a mother of 2 who began her personal dance journey when she was 11, being a keen dancer until the age of 19.

“I got a life, I got a job, I didn’t get back into it until my eldest daughter started doing ballet and I was submerged back into that world, and realised how much I’d missed it. I got back into doing classes and from there it was a steady progression, I realised I didn’t want to be without dance in my life again.” She began her teacher training and began working self employed in various halls around Chester.

“I had to bite the bullet and look for a property. I saw the big windows and the amount of light that comes in and it just spoke to me. Its got a light airy feel which is really calming and relaxing. I got to know the other surrounding businesses and theres a real close knit community here, I’ve been made to feel very welcome. ” Alicia got the keys to the former office premises at the beginning of April, and has overseen a quick turnaround with plenty of help from her family. The vinyl covered spring floor was installed by her father. The studio offers a welcoming reception area, lockers and a client kitchen. The main dance space includes mirrors and fitted barres. A smaller PT room will be available for personal lessons.

Alicia says she is a “huge advocate of dance being for everyone, doesn’t matter if you’re male or female, doesn’t matter what age you are, what ability, what size you are. Everyone should feel welcome to come and try exercise or dance.

” I hope that anyone can walk through the doors and can feel welcome and relaxed and comfortable to come and try a class and feel the benefits. Not just for the physical aspects, but for the mental benefits as well.”

Poise have an open day on Saturday 11th May with classes running 10 til 5
