Grosvenor Shopping Centre to hold “Wicked ” event

To mark the launch of the new film based on the hit musical, the Grosvenor Shopping Centre are holding a “spellbinding celebration” on Saturday 30th November.

Two wicked backdrops are in place now with the chance to snap a magical selfie. On Saturday there will be free face painting as well as a visit from Elphaba herself from 11-4. There will also be a chance to win a family ticket to see the film at the Picturehouse cinema.

“Wicked” features ex Upton High and Hammond School student Jasmine McIvor, 26, who plays “Winkie Mother” in the film’s opening sequence where she acts, sings and dances alongside Ariana Grande. The Chester born actress also features on the films soundtrack where she sings on the song ‘No One Mourns the Wicked’. Another ex Hammond pupil is the Oscar winning actress Michelle Yeoh who plays Madame Morrible in the film. Michelle attended the Hammond School in the 1980s where she trained as a dancer. The Shopping centre is also host to Chester BID’s Christmas grotto, back for its fourth year. The grotto runs until the 22nd December, with some places still available.
