Harrods Beauty make planning application for iconic Browns building

A planning application has been submitted for the former Browns of Chester building with H (Harrods) Beauty set to take on part of the iconic Eastgate street location. The building has been empty since May 2021.

Owners Martin Property Group are splitting the building into smaller units and H- Beauty will occupy 34-36 Eastgate Row across the two buildings with an exit to the Grosvenor shopping centre.

The design and access statement on the council’s planning portal states :
The H-Beauty stores of Harrods offer luxury Beauty products, treatments and educational
workshops for skincare, make-up, fragrance and hairstyling categories. The brand was
launched in the Lakeside Shopping Centre in September 2020 as a new beauty experience,
setting a new standard for beauty emporiums around the world. ”

H Beauty has branches in Essex, Milton Keynes, Edinburgh, Newcastle and Bristol.

The company aims to be the ‘go-to, luxury beauty destination’ for local shoppers,
offering in store beauty experiences (Drybar, Townhouse and facials at Skincare Stations) as well as Inspiration through Beauty events and a Champagne bar.

The proposal would bring 70 new jobs to the area
