Organisers of the annual Santa float, Grosvenor Round Table have raised an amazing 10 thousand pounds for local charities.

The volunteer group, who also organise the annual raft race, took the float all across the suburbs of Chester on 13 evenings in December. The organisers , who also collected food donations for West Cheshire Foodbank commented: “A huge thank you to the great people of Chester All of this will be distributed back into the communities. ” Chester Round Table’s team of volunteers is made up of men aged 18-45 who are looking for ways to support and give something back to the community. They praised the 14 community groups that provided assistance to the float as well as local pubs and bars that hosted the starting points. Special mention was given to Piers Dutton and T.P Dutton & Sons dairy farm in Upton. “Piers and his family allow us to store the float at the farm every year, put up with Xmas music in October while we test the PA, has us come and go at all hours and never complains. Without Piers’ support, there simply would be no Santa Float.
“From us and all of Chester who enjoy seeing the float on their streets every year, thank you for your continual support. Merry Christmas!”
In December, the Round Table also made a visit to the The Children’s Ward at Countess of Chester Hospital , with Santa himself in attendance. Toy donations were made from the team at the Rake and Pikel in Huntington. Santa also visited the Florence Grogan care home in Blacon, commenting : “This is what we’re all about as volunteers – making the community happy at this fantastic time of year.”
