The latest exhibition from Chester Visual Arts is now open in the Grosvenor Shopping Centre.

Attracting 560 visitors on the first day of opening, the exhibition features abstract painting from 4 North West artists. Each of the 4 artists share common themes and practices, but their execution is very different, making this show a broad showcase of contemporary abstract painting.
Terry Duffy’s “Monuments” installation and paintings were first exhibited during the 2008 Liverpool European City of Culture. In 2009 it was moved to the vast Liverpool Anglican Cathedral. In 2011 the work was installed at the magnificent Palazzo Contarini during the prestigious Venice Biennale .Terry’s work has been exhibited internationally including New York, Berlin, Paris, Dresden, Cape Town, Venice, Liverpool, London and more.
Work by Anne Byrne (Semi-Finalist of Sky Landscape Artist of the Year 2023) includes abstract landscapes based on her experience of time spent in Ireland.
The two other artists featured are: Preston-based Julie Meyer, whose practice is rooted in the traditional materials, processes and histories of modernist geometric painting, and Preston-based Julie Saul, whose bright paintings are drawn from everyday experience, observation and memory.
This show continues CVA’s aim to establish a permanent gallery space for Chester which began in 2017 with the “Pop Art in Print” exhibition at the former library space on Northgate street. CVA will be encouraging students and visitors to draw and make marks while the exhibition runs.
ReMark runs until the 7th March in the CVA Exhibition Space ( formerly H&M) and is open Wed- Sun 11-4.
