From the makers of escape room Break Out Chester, comes gameshow themed Challenge Point. Since opening in late Jan, the new attraction has received rave reviews. We were invited to come and try out the games.

Located on Bridge street row, in a unit that has been empty since the closure of Platinum Lounge, Challenge Point is a very welcome addition to the street.
After a briefing from the attentive and very helpful staff, we entered the waiting area in preparation for first game .Dotted around the venue are life size celebrity cut outs, ( Brucie, Ant and Dec, Bradley Walsh) which add to the atmosphere and provide some fun team photo opps.
The Challenge Point experience is episodic with teams taking part in mini games all lasting around 5 minutes long. Initial fears that this would lead to a bitty disjointed experience were unfounded due to the variety and pace of the games. We played Supermarket Beep first, locating and scanning items in a mock up supermarket.
In between games you can compare your scores with the other teams on the video screens, which all adds to the excitement.
Next, teams enter a room in darkness and must take it in turns to navigate past a series of lasers. The variety of games is impressive each one immersing you in a different fast paced scenario.

A number based quiz follows with answers inputted via 100 numbered buttons. Subsequent games riff on “Guess Who” and Charades. In the latter teams are split in two with noise cancelling headphones and must act out the image onscreen. This was great fun, and I forget myself, pretending to be animals and movie characters. Part way through the experience teams are also given the option of gambling on a spin of the wheel with the chance to win or lose points or prizes. We declined the offer !

My favourite game combined general knowledge and skill with a nerf gun, with players having to hit the right target, image or number to onscreen questions to score points. The next game is a variation of the laser maze with players having to hit the different colours of laser in a specific order. As the winning team we were also given the chance to play an extra bonus room- this was manic with coloured balls falling from the ceiling for us to throw into corresponding holes in the wall.
It was only a few years ago that people were saying there was “nothing to do” in Chester and now we have another attraction offering something different and engaging. Challenge Point will be great for team building, work, or social events and the roster of games will be changing every 3 months offering potential for return visits. The Challenge Point Experience cost varies depending on the size of the team, from £18- £25. Every game offers an intense shot of fast paced sheer fun!
