Now open at 2 City Walls is Books on the Walls.
Most recently occupied by plant based cafe Fika, the unit was also home to Italian cafe Gustum before the pandemic. The new business promises a welcoming haven where ” where stories, sounds and spirits intertwine in the heart of Chester.” The new addition brings the number of bookshops on Northgate Street to three, alongside Amblongus Books and Bookingham Palace.
The new business’s website states that their ” carefully curated space brings together a perfect blend of contemporary culture and timeless traditions.” with the opportunity to “banish your phone and immerse yourself in our unique atmosphere where literature meets lifestyle”.
Combining a book shop with an artisanal coffee bar, as well as a selection of craft beer, cider and martinis, there will also be a record player available for use with new music also available to buy in various formats. Work by local artists will be on display, with a window display recently painted by artist Nikki Pinder. Board games including the recently released Chester Monopoly will be available to play.
