Local actor Janice Fryett stars in new play at Shakespeare North Playhouse

Local actor Janice Fryett is to star in a new play at the Shakespeare North Playhouse. Terminal 2 will be performed at the theatre in Presott on the 6th/7th June.

The LGBT themed tragicomedy tells the story of married couple George and Lynda , who facing a plane delay at the airport, “debate the meaning of life, the common bluebottle, sex tapes and the pros and cons of WH Smith… but it soon becomes clear that Lynda’s journey is one way and that George has been hiding a painful secret for all of their married life”

Janice is well known to Chester audiences having trained as an actor in her late fifties, and has performed extensively with Tip Top, Theatre in the Quarter, Chester Little Theatre and Chester Mystery Plays. She has appeared in Emmerdale, several TV commercials and short films and she the BBC Eurovision trailer 2023. Janice can be heard in her own radio sitcom, Florrie & Dotty and has featured in The Archers and presented a Witness History programme on the BBC World Service. Janice was also a finalist in the  BBC Norman Beaton Fellowship for radio drama.

Co star Colin Meredith has worked professionally since 1976 His extensive work on television and radio includes guest roles in Emmerdale, Poirot, Hetty Wainthrop, Waterloo Road, Brookside, Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell and Mount Pleasant. His most recent TV credit was playing Mr Beetham in Coronation Street , his sixth character in the soap.

The show will be Janice’s her fourth collaboration with writer David Payne. They first met when Janice took part in a script-in-hand reading of his play, Size Zero, in April 2018. He has had several plays performed and his day job is a producer, director and now writer on The Archers. He previously worked as a story liner for  Eastenders. Terminal 2 evolved from an earlier version of the play called Terminal One, which tackled the topic of assisted dying.
