Chester Heritage Festival ready for launch event this weekend

Chester Heritage Festival launches this Saturday (24th May). The celebrated event that has become a cornerstone of the city’s cultural calendar is celebrating its 10th anniversary and will run until the 8th June. With the chance to immerse yourself in 2000 years of history, the programme offers something for everyone. The festival is now operated by Heritage Chester, a Community Interest Company (CIC) that was set up to ensure the festival’s long-term future and support an expanded year-round programme of heritage activities.

The launch event will take place at Picturehouse and Exchange Square (11am onwards) featuring local musicians , a professional bubbleologist and a Jester:

  • Express yourself with traditional arts and crafts! Create stunning stained glass masterpieces, design your own heritage-inspired tiles, or adorn your skin with intricate henna designs from our skilled artist. Families will delight in our specially curated heritage activities that make history tangible and exciting for even the youngest explorers.
  • History enthusiasts won’t want to miss the South Bank History Fair, where local experts showcase fascinating artifacts and stories from Chester’s rich past.
  • Step inside the iconic Picturehouse for “Talking Chester” – an engaging series of enlightening talks, exclusive films, and thought-provoking Q&A sessions that bring our city’s heritage into sharp focus.
