Chester Friends of the Earth wins award for environmental activism
A local campaign group has won an award for environmental activism in recognition of its inspiring work to enrich the local area and protect the planet. At a recent ceremony hosted by Friends of the Earth, Chester Friends of the Earth was given The Earthmovers Award to commend the group’s achievements over the past year.

The group have been noted for the creative ways they raise awareness of environmental issues with the local community, including river pollution and protecting forests, and their engaging use of social media. Hannah Swettenham, coordinator at Chester Friends of the Earth, said: “The team have worked so hard over the last 12 months, and we’re so proud to have been recognised via this award. We’ve had so much fun bringing projects like Chester Repair Cafe and 10xGreener to Chester and we hope to do even more in the next 12 months. We’re always looking to grow the team and new volunteers are always welcome.”
