Sam Joseph is bringing his handmade luxury chocolates to Chester later this month.
Sam currently has a chocolate shop in Altrincham Market which opened in 2014. The shop there offers chocolate, desserts and drinks. The Chester branch will be chocolate only, with the range including chocolate truffles, bars, dipped honeycomb, brownies, hot chocolate mixes, chocolate dipped dates and popcorn. All of the chocolates are handmade in Chester.
Sam grew up in a market, working on his father’s florists in Tynemouth market. He founded his business with his wife Claire. “I moved from Newcastle to Manchester and got a job in the Lowry Hotel where I met Claire. We were both pastry chefs and we worked together in London for a bit and then came back to Manchester to found the business.
“I have always had my eye on Chester and thought it would be cool to have a shop here, even before this market was set up. We set up in Alty , we live in Ellesmere Port so we spend a lot of time here. When the market was getting redone we actually put an application in, and we were close to coming in here when it first happened but it didn’t work out at the time. We focused on the chocolate and moved the chocolate production to Chester. “
Sam is a big fan of the Market which will soon be celebrating its third birthday.
“I love the Market. There’s loads of food places but there are loads of other retail stalls. We have the glasses shop, the phone shop, we have a hairdresser next to us, the dog place over there, Chester Zoo doing their stuff over there. It’s a nice mix of food hall style and old school market traders”
Sam Joseph will be opening on the 14th October
