Volunteers for SHARE, the charity established 10 years ago by Adam Dandy were recognised today at an event on the SHARE charity shop on Pepper Street.
The charity’s original SHARE shop opened on Northgate street on a freezing January morning in 2016. The charity which was founded to support the homeless and refugees moved into its current home in 2022. SHARE have been involved in a huge number of initiatives to support the homeless in Chester including a suspended coffee buying scheme and a buy a brick campaign which enabled the purchase of much needed accommodation. In 2023 SHARE were recognised for their work with an award from the High Sheriff of Cheshire. Last year the charity expanded their support by opening up a city centre homeless facility on Frodsham street. Although the facility later closed, founded Adam Dandy announced that a replacement would be opening early in 2026.

Adam Dandy “The purpose of today isn’t just to celebrate ten years, it’s also to recognise the exceptional work that our volunteers at SHARE do, day in, day out. This has enabled the day centre that we open in 3 weeks at the former St Martins clinic, behind the market. The volunteers on our outreach team, our volunteers in Mold, they do so much. It gets quite emotional thinking about where we have come from and all the people we have engaged with and allowed to progress on a better path than they would have done. “
Special guest Lord Mayor Sherin Akhtar made an emotional address before cutting the specially made cake alongside SHARE volunteers. “You help a very important group of people, its wonderful that you are able to do it, but at the same time I am saddened that we need to support homeless people in this day and age. While we can celebrate this wonderful milestone I still think about what needs doing and the work that you do. Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers and supporters!”
