“Helping someone rediscover their smile is the greatest gift of my work” says Megan Williams of Shaped Aesthetics Chester .

Megan, who operates out of Jade’s Hair and Beauty Salon on Brook street , began her career working in Chester Market when she was 20. She left before the New Market was built and founded her own business building up her skills and knowledge of treatments over 7 years.
“I started with semi permanent makeup and tattoos first. I have always wanted to help people, for example if they’ve had chemotherapy and they’ve lost their eyebrows. That led me into the aesthetics side, with filler and Botox and then cleft lip treatments.”
Megan offers corrective treatment to people affected by cleft lip/palate scarring.
“I do it completely free. What made me decide to do it was I saw an article about cleft lip patients struggling with dental care. It’s difficult to get on the NHS. I have heard of cleft patients being turned away because of lack of knowledge and experience. The NHS do cover cleft patients its just difficult to find. A lot of people end up suffering because of it, so I decided to do what I do and help the cleft community in my own way.
“There’s more people than you might think that have a cleft lip/ cleft palate. Not everyone wants filler treatment. Its a hyaluronic acid based material that is injected into the skin to build volume. You can add volume in areas where you are lacking volume basically. A lot of people have lip filler to enhance their natural appearance, but with a cleft lip its to correct symmetry from scar tissue. People are born with the cleft palate and they have surgery when they are really young, and have quite a few surgeries through their life. As adults you’re left with a scar, so the filler can correct that. Some people have scar tissue on one side, for some people its both sides so this can correct that symmetry and make people feel better about themselves. Some people want a little confidence boost. The procedure generally takes about an hour. We apply numbing cream and the filler is injected slowly in small amounts to correct the lip shape.
“I love Brook street. I think its ace! I do a lot of my shopping here, there’s a variety of everything down here! ” she says
