Lord Mayor of Chester Cllr Mark Williams was out and about today meeting local businesses in Hoole, following on from a similar visit to the city centre last week. “Its my way of saying thanks , and if we can promote businesses and bring people back to Hoole and pick up local issues as well. ” The Lord Mayor chatted to businesses and members of the public about their experiences during the COVID crisis and the measures they have taken to safely reopen for trade.

” We have worked hard and spent a lot on screens, and gone above and beyond” said Ben Denton of Denton and Hyde. ” We really care about our clients so its the right thing to do. We have renovated the upstairs area as a room for vulnerable people who have underlying health conditions. The response from our clients has been 100% positive! This visit has been good for morale and good for Hoole. Hoole is a hotspot for business in Chester and we’re proud of the efforts of everyone in the local community. ”

“The shop’s being doing tremendously well” said fishmonger Karen White. “I think we were the busiest fish monger in the area during lockdown, our sales tripled. Its quietening down now. We are tied in with the Hoole Food Market and do deliveries with them. Nobody is allowed in the shop now, we are constantly sanitising and we have stopped cash sales. ”

Owner of With Love from Hoole, Kim Snookes- Hathaway commented: “We opened on the 15th June. It was really sad being closed, I didn’t know if we were going to reopen. The Government have been fab, if it wasn’t for the Government we wouldn’t have survived! ”

“I would encourage everyone to get behind our local businesses and show them our support by shopping local as our retailers play a vital role in our city. ” said the Lord Mayor.
