Independent artisans Planet Doughnut have announced on social media that they will be opening a store in Chester in March 2021. The company currently have 2 stores, in Shrewsbury and Telford, as well as attending farmers’ markets across the region including the recent Taste Cheshire market in Chester Cathedral. The company describe their doughnuts as a “little bit different” saying that our their “yeast raised doughnuts are made overnight and are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. “

The company was founded by Duncan & Samantha McGregor in 2017. Originally offering a delivery service , the success of the brand led to the opening of the first Planet Doughnut in Shrewsbury in spring 2018. The Telford store followed in December 2019. Alongside their donuts which come in a variety of luxury flavours, the company serve ethically sourced and locally roasted coffee. The addition of a new business to Frodsham street will be very welcome given the rash or recent closures across the city. Planet Doughnut will join other new businesses on the street including Chester’s Traditional Fish and Chips ( in the former Les’ Fish Bar), Savers ( in the old Brighthouse unit) and new coffee shop Cafe Juno (Frodsham square) .
