Chester BID are bringing together the businesses of Watergate Street to celebrate the wonderful eclectic nature of the city’s iconic street

On Saturday 03 September the team at Chester BID are bringing together the traders, shopkeepers, restauranteurs and artisans of Watergate Street to create a street festival for the day.

Businesses will set up stalls street side, restaurants and bars will use their alfresco spaces to serve food and drinks, and live music will punctuate the day.

There will be circus performers who will perform up and down the street and lead free mini-circus skills workshops for the whole family.

A New Orlean style band, The King Brasstards, will roam up and down Watergate, and there will also be live music at Vin Santo.

Toy shop Weasel and Bug will be blowing giant bubbles and Harriet and Dee will be running a competition to win a Jellycat dog.

For creative types, Watergate Gallery will be running drop in and draw sessions and local artist Julie Colclough will be creating art live up on the rows.

Café and shop, Pars Kahve will bring their selection of goods outside to create a Turkish style street bazaar.

Luka Morrell, Business Engagement Manager said: ‘Watergate Street has always been an important street in Chester. It’s a street that showcases the diversity of our businesses – and also really shows off the indie talent in the city.

She added: ‘The events and activities start from 11am and will be running throughout the day. Its going to be a wonderful family friendly event and a perfect way to celebrate the end of the summer holidays with the children.’
