The curtain is set to rise at Theatr Clwyd on a production of one of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s best loved musicals.
Staged by local community theatre company Tip Top Productions, Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat will run at the Anthony Hopkins Theatre at the popular Mold venue from Tuesday 14th -Saturday 18th February at 7.30pm with a Matinee performance at 2.30pm on Saturday 18th February. The show will be Directed and Choreographed for Tip Top by Rob Stevens with Musical Direction by Simon Phillips and features a cast of 30 performers together with a large Children’s choir.
Joseph is Tip Top Productions second large-scale post-pandemic musical to be staged at Theatr Clwyd, following on from their sell out production of CATS in 2022. Until 2021, the company was based at The Forum Studio Theatre in Chester and staged a large number of popular shows and other events in the intimate studio space for 13 years before handing back the building to the local authority as part of redevelopment plans for the site. Last year, Tip Top also staged popular musical Calendar Girls The Musical at Storyhouse in Chester to great critical acclaim.
Written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice and first staged in 1972, Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat has gone on to become one of the most performed musicals with some big names including Jason Donovan, Phillip Schofield, Lee Mead and Donny Osmond donning the famous coat of many colours.
Speaking about bringing the musical to Theatr Clwyd, the show’s Director Rob Stevens said “We are so looking forward to staging this colourful, iconic musical at Theatr Clwyd. Our cast, crew, Musical Director and creative team have worked so hard to put the show together and we can’t wait for our audiences to join us.”
