Chester Hospitality Association have announced the launch of their People Awards, recognising the amazing work of hospitality staff in Chester. From Chefs to front of house, from sales and revenue to housekeeping, every aspect of hospitality excellence will have their time under the spotlight in a unique ceremony on 6th July 2023 at Chester Racecourse. The event will not only highlight the people who support and operate the hospitality venues of Chester but also raise much needed funds for the industry’s charity Hospitality Action. Liverpool’s version of these awards took place last week and initial estimates show they raised more than £25,000 for the charity.

“We are thrilled to be bringing these awards to Chester,” said Steven Hesketh, Chair of Chester Hospitality Association. “Having seen their success in Liverpool we have been inspired and cannot wait to recognise and reward the incredible talent in this city. Hospitality is a difficult trade full of passionate and wonderful people, so much of what they do is behind the scenes, and this is a great way to take note of their hard work and thank them for it.”

Nominations for the awards open this week and will close on 28th April. To register your interest or to nominate an individual please go to http://www.chesterhospitalityassociation.co.uk

The awards have been chosen to specifically highlight individuals, the unsung heroes of hospitality rather than venues and entries are encouraged from all types of businesses, independents, or chains.

The categories are: –

· Rising Star

· Unsung Hero

· Front of House

· Heart of House

· Excellence in Food Service

· Barista of the Year

· Bar Mixologist of the Year

· Young Chef of the Year

· Chef of the Year

The event is also designed specifically to raise money for the charity Hospitality Action. The charity give all those in hospitality the help, advice and support they need whenever times get tough.

Whatever challenge they face – from physical illness or mental health issues to financial difficulty, family problems to addiction – Hospitality Action aims to get workers back on their feet again. And when it’s no longer possible to work, they can help prepare for the next phase of life.

Whatever you do in hospitality, they’ve got you. More information about the charity is available at http://www.hospitalityaction.org.uk
