There will be an increased police presence in Chester this weekend to help keep racegoers and members of the public safe.
With an influx of visitors expected in the city centre due to a fixture at Chester Racecourse, additional police patrols will be deployed.
A dispersal order will be in place from 12.30pm on Friday 26 June until 12.30pm on Sunday 28 June 2026. The dispersal order will allow officers to ban anyone from the area for up to 48 hours to prevent disorder. It has been imposed under Section 34 of the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.
The area covered by the order is highlighted in the attached mapped area. The map is provided to anyone issued with a direction to leave. There will also be an increased police presence to deal with any anti-social behaviour which may arise across the city.
Inspector James Wilson said:“This weekend it will be incredibly busy in Chester, paired with the hot weather, and while we hope everyone enjoys their time here, we hope they do so safely and look out for each other.“As well as an increased police presence, there will be a dispersal order in place which serves as an additional tactical option that allows us to directly combat anti-social behaviour head on, before it escalates.”
Anyone with information about anti-social behaviour in their area is urged to contact Cheshire Police via the Cheshire Police website or call 101.
