A team from BusinessComparison will take on a gruelling 34-mile hike this September in memory of Freya, the daughter of friend and former colleague Paul Jones, while raising vital funds for Cheshire-based children’s cancer charity, The Joshua Tree.

BusinessComparison is an award-winning, UK-based comparison platform with a small team based in Chester’s Steam Mill building. The platform helps SMEs save time and money across a range of business essentials, including finance, banking, energy, insurance, and telecoms. Since 2014, BusinessComparison has saved British businesses tens of millions of pounds.
On Friday 25th September 2026, the team will walk the entire length of Cheshire’s Sandstone Trail in a single day. The team will begin in Frodsham, follow the famous sandstone ridge south through the heart of Cheshire, and finish in Whitchurch. The challenge follows a similar effort in July 2025, when colleagues walked over 30 miles, from New Brighton promenade to their office in Chester city centre. The 2025 challenge aimed to support Paul and his family while Freya was undergoing treatment for a brain tumour. Very sadly, Freya passed away at just 9 years old.
Now, BusinessComparison hopes to honour Freya’s memory and give back to The Joshua Tree, a charity that has provided vital support to the Jones family.
Taking part in the challenge are:
● Philip Brennan, Founder and Managing Director of BusinessComparison
● Max Solomon, Steph Salusbury, Joe Charlesworth and Younes Chougui from the BusinessComparison team
● Paul Jones, Freya’s father and a former BusinessComparison colleague
● Richard Driffield, CEO of The Joshua Tree
The team will also be supported throughout the day by BusinessComparison colleagues providing transport, food, drinks and essential supplies along the route.
Philip Brennan, Founder and Managing Director of BusinessComparison, said:
“Last summer’s challenge was about rallying around Paul and his family during an incredibly difficult time, and supporting them in any way we could. This year, it’s about remembering Freya, recognising a charity that supported them, and giving back. The team at The Joshua Tree make a real difference to local families facing the unimaginable. It’s a great cause, and the Sandstone Trail is a really tough challenge, so we’re encouraging anyone who can to donate or bring attention to our fundraising page.”
With headquarters in Sandiway, Northwich, The Joshua Tree supports children and families affected by childhood cancer across the UK, offering practical, emotional, health and wellbeing support throughout their journey. Donations will help ensure more families can access that vital support when they need it most.
Richard Driffield, CEO of The Joshua Tree, said:
“Thank you to the team at BusinessComparison for taking on this incredible challenge and for choosing to support The Joshua Tree. I’m proud to be joining the team, alongside my friend Paul, as we walk the length of the Sandstone Trail in memory of Freya. The Joshua Tree is here for every family affected by childhood cancer, providing ongoing, tailored support whenever it’s needed. Every pound raised will go directly towards our work delivering these vital services for families when they need us most.” To donate, visit: https://www.justgiving.com/page/businesscomparison-sandstonetrail
