Threads Through the Bible now open at Chester Cathedral

Experience a breathtaking journey through the story of creation, redemption and revelation in this remarkable textile exhibition.

Featuring three monumental sequences – Threads through Creation, Threads through the Cross and Threads through Revelation – by textile artist Jacqui Parkinson. Ten years in the making and composed of more than 25 million stitches across 44 panels, this extraordinary display celebrates both artistic devotion with the timeless message of the Bible.

This is one of the largest textile artworks ever created by a single artist.  Together the panels stretch over 80 metres, weaving scenes of beauty, faith and hope with colour and creativity on an awe-inspiring scale.

Speaking at the launch, the artist commented “I love novels and I love stories. One of my favourite stories is the overall story of The Bible, to me its a real love story and that’s what I have shown in this exhibition. It starts with the creation, we have a loving creator, who creates for love, in love. Its a story that has a lot of truths and a lot of questions in it”.

The event runs until 28 June and will be supported by a series of events.
